McCarter’s managing director, Jeffrey Woodward, to leave post

Jeffrey Woodward, the managing director of McCarter Theatre since 1991, has accepted a position as the managing director of Syracuse Stage at Syracuse University, it was announced today.
He is expected to assume his new position on March 24.
In a statement issued by Syracuse, McCarter Theatre Center’s Artistic Director Emily Mann praised Mr. Woodward’s contribution to McCarter.
”Jeffrey and I have had an extraordinary partnership for the past 17 years, during which time McCarter has become a world-class institution with national prominence,” Ms. Mann stated. “In addition to his strong leadership and business acumen, what distinguishes Jeffrey from other managers is his passion for the work on our stages. While he will be missed here, I know that Syracuse Stage will be the happy beneficiary of his transformative leadership.”
Prior to coming to McCarter, Mr. Woodward worked for Hartford Stage, Northlight Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Oregon Shakespeare Festival and served as a consultant to a number of organizations. He is a trustee of the Theatre Communications Group and ArtPride, New Jersey’s statewide advocacy group for the arts, the secretary for the League of Resident Theaters, and has served as panel chairman, panelist and an on-site evaluator for the National Endowment for the Arts.
