Catherine P. Shouse

    SOUTH BRUNSWICK — Catherine Price Shouse died Jan. 18 at University Medical Center at Princeton. She was 92.
   Born in Whittmell, Va., she was a Princeton resident from 1957 to 1979 before moving to South Brunswick.
   Educated in Whittmell’s public school system, she formerly worked at Dan River Mills in Danville, Va.
   In Princeton, she was a homemaker and caregiver to many neighborhood children. After moving to South Brunswick she became an employee of the South Brunswick Board of Education and retired in the early 1990s.
   Mrs. Shouse was baptized at Silver Creek Baptist Church in Danville, Va., and formerly belonged to Loyal Baptist Church. Upon moving to Princeton, she joined Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church, where she served on the Usher Board, taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. In later years she became a member of the Princeton Church of Christ in Princeton Township.
   She was known for being well dressed including her signature red lipstick and hats.
   Daughter of the late Smithfield Price Sr. and Mary Elizer Pritchett, wife of the late Walter G. Shouse, sister of the late Smith Price Jr., William H. Price, Robert L. Price, Louise K. Valentine, Jane Price and Thelma Barter, and mother of the late Elinor G. Byrd, she is survived by her daughter, Helen R. Patterson of South Brunswick; grandchildren Linda Saunders of Lawrence, John Bailey of Denver, Clarice Bailey of Somerset, Barry Gardner of Philadelphia, Connie Hemingway of Princeton, Reginald Gardner of Salem, Va., Ronald Gardner of Roanoke, Va., Oscar Bailey of Phoenix, Anthony Bailey of Princeton, and William Patterson of New York; sisters-in-law Mary H. Price of Camden, Annie B. Price of Martinsville, Va. and Mildred Price of Miami; 19 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
   The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Princeton Church of Christ, 33 River Road, Princeton.
   Calling hours are 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
   Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
