Two suspects arrested for assault

SOUTH BRUNSWICK- Two Franklin men have been arrested for stabbing a township resident on Jan. 5, police said. Lee Capers, 22, and Donald Harris, 19, were arrested on Jan. 11 and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon.

According to a press release fromSouth Brunswick police, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. in the parking lot of Timberline Court. The victim, 20, told police he was leaving a house party when he was attacked by four black males. He said he felt a sharp pain and realized he had been stabbed in the right hand and wrist. The suspects then fled the scene.

The investigation revealed that the suspects and victim had all been at the party, police said. The suspects were upset with a friend of the victim, but attacked the victimwhen they could not find his friend. Police said intelligence information suggests the suspects have gang affiliation but the victim does not.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, police said. He has had two operations to repair 17 tendons that were severed and he does not have full use of his hand, according to police reports.

Capers is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center and Harris is being held at the Somerset County Jail. Both have bail set at $50,000.
