MANALAPAN – The Zoning Board of Adjustment met on Jan. 17 to reorganize for the new year.
Maryann Musich, whose three-year term is due to expire at the end of 2008, was re-elected by her fellow board members to serve as the panel’s chairman for the year.
Musich, who works as the administrator of the East Brunswick Sewerage Authority, has served as chairwoman on previous occasions during her service as a zoning board member.
Musich said she appreciates being named the board’s chairwoman again.
Henry Rose, whose three-year term on the zoning board is due to expire at the end of 2011, was elected the panel’s vice chairman.
James Gorman was reappointed as the board’s attorney; Patricia Reiser was reappointed as the board’s recording secretary; and Mark Lescavage, of CME Engineering, Howell, returns as the board’s engineer.
Rich Cramer, of T&M Associates, Middletown, was reappointed as the board’s planner.
Applicants who come before the zoning board seek variances from established municipal regulations (i.e., an applicant who wants to place a commercial use in a residential zone or build a structure within a specified buffer zone).
The board members listen to testimony on each application, consider comments from people who support and/or object to the request and then make a determination to grant or deny a variance from the regulations.
