Reader defends selection process for police chief

I t is nice to know that Michael G. Crelin Sr. agrees with me concerning Civil Service promotion guidelines. However, as of this writing, I’m not in a fighting mood but I am concerned with his letter and how he would justify stating that Mayor Steve Acropolis swayed the Brick Township Council to promote the new police chief.

Please tell us,Mr. Crelin, how you wouldmake a decision such as the one our mayor had to make? I am all ears. Put yourself in the mayor’s shoes for just one time and come out with words of eloquence we all can read and try to understand. We will be waiting with baited breath.

If you agree with me concerning Civil Service rules, which I’m sure you do, please enlighten me and the readers how you came to the conclusion of the council being coerced into making the appointment. This will be worthwhile reading.

Do you know something that we don’t? Are you privy to inside information? Did you seek a session with a fortuneteller, or better yet, is yourmind playing tricks on you?

Finally, family has nothing to dowith this concern of yours. Shame on you for even mentioning it. Is there nothing sacred? As formyself and your remark of “insulting the intelligence” of the readers, I do not tell untruths. My Bible instructs me not to do so. Therefore, everything Iwrite has a truthfulmeaning.

We all will be waiting for your solution that you have so blatantly attached toMayorAcropolis. Let’s see how you would have accomplished it.Art Sholty
