PRINCETON — Jane Wilf and Mark Wilf, a 1984 alumnus of Princeton University, have donated $5 million for the construction of the university’s new dormitory, Wilf Hall and establish the Jane and Mark Wilf ‘84 and Wilf Family Fund for Jewish Life to support programming in the university’s Center for Jewish Life.
Wilf Hall will be one of four dormitories in the reconstructed Butler College, currently being built on the site of the previous two-year residential college of the same name. It is scheduled to reopen in 2009 as the third of Princeton’s four-year residential colleges.
The gift provides $4.5 million for Wilf Hall and $500,000 for the Wilf Family Fund.
”Part of what makes Princeton special is its strong emphasis on students,” Mr. Wilf said in a statement released by the university. “I had a wonderful experience as a Princeton student, and supporting the construction of a new dorm is a way for me to contribute to providing a superlative residential experience for Princeton students of the future.”
He added, “Preparing young people for leadership and service to the Jewish community is of great importance to me and to my family.”
The Wilfs previously funded the Wilf Hall in the Center for Jewish Life, the main sanctuary used for worship services and other gatherings.
An electrical engineering and computer science major at the university, Mr. Wilf also earned a law degree from New York University Law School. He is a principal in Garden Homes Development, a family-owned real estate business, and a principal owner of the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings, along with his brother and his cousin. Mr. Wilf and his wife Jane reside in Livingston with their four children.
