The Avalon Assisting Living residence on Amwell Road will host a free public consumer awareness program on “False Insurance Claims” from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday.
This program is presented by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, Office of Public Affairs.
False insurance claims are the second largest economic crime in the United States. Seniors are often victims of false insurance claims, including being billed for medical services not rendered, or being asked to supply your Medicare number for “free” medical treatment.
The seminar will offer tips on what can be done to avoid becoming a victim.
