FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Township Committee recently honored Cub Scout Pack 155 of Freehold with a proclamation for “outstanding efforts, achievements and dedication to the community.” Committeeman Raymond Kershaw presented the proclamation to Cub Scout Pack 155 during its annual Blue and Gold Banquet.
During the banquet the Cub Scouts collected more than 50 grocery bags full of food.
The food was donated to Open Door in Freehold and more than $200 in a special wishing well went to support the Monmouth County Children’s Advocacy Center which is under construction on Kozloski Road in the township.
According to a press release, the committee’s proclamation recognized Pack 155’s extensive commitment to helping the community through food, clothing and personal item drives that benefited Open Door in Freehold and the Monmouth County Food Bank; collecting personal items and cards for soldiers in Iraq; collecting Easter baskets for the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation; raising money for the Freehold First Aid Squad; hosting litter cleanups at Michael J. Tighe Park; aiding police with the PACE car program; and holiday caroling at senior centers and nursing homes.
The pack was also congratulated for achieving the Boy Scouts of America Centennial National Quality Unit Award and being named the No. 1 Top Unit in Monmouth Council for raising funds to support Scout programs and activities in Monmouth County.
According to the press release, for 52 years Cub Scout Pack 155 of Freehold has been dedicated to providing young boys with a chance to solidify family values, create connections within their community, gain self-confidence and learn the skills they need to become upstanding young men and good citizens. Cub Scout Pack 155 currently serves about 90 elementary school boys in Freehold.
