Raymond Latocha, 53, of Manville, was charged with shoplifting, driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right after he was pulled over on Camplain Road for swerving over the centerline at 7:19 p.m. March 5.
Police said they also matched Mr. Latocha’s license plate to that of the vehicle driven by the reported thief at Kmart on Route 206.
Police said an employee at Kmart reported that a man had taken a decorative night light, valued at $11.49, and placed it in his pocket before walking out of the store.
Mr. Latocha was taken into custody after he failed several field sobriety tests. At police headquarters, he was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.13 percent, police said.
The legal limit as allowed by New Jersey state law is 0.08 percent.
Police said that bail for the shoplifting charge was set at $500 with a 10 percent option.
Mr. Latocha posted $50 bail and was released to the custody of his sister.
David Jurkowski, 27, of Manville, was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and careless driving after he was pulled over for driving 62 mph on Route 206 and drifting across the lane at 12:51 a.m. March 8.
Mr. Jurkowski was taken into custody after he failed several field sobriety tests, police said. At police headquarters, he was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.09 percent, police said.
Mr. Jurkowski was processed and released to the custody of his brother.
Cherie Schnekenburger, 29, of Post Court, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right after she was pulled over for crossing over the double yellow lines on Hamilton Road and Old Somerville Road at 1:30 a.m. March 16.
Ms. Schnekenburger was taken into custody after she failed several field sobriety tests, police said. At police headquarters, she was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent, police said.
Ms. Schnekenburger was processed and released.
Gary Dupont, 25, of Bateman Way, was charged with possession of hypodermic needles, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended driver’s license, failure to keep right and CDS in a motor vehicle after police pulled him over for crossing over the double yellow line on Triangle Road at 1:26 a.m. March 5.
Police said they found a hypodermic needle in his lower leg pants pocket; wax folds with a white powder on the passenger front floor of the vehicle; and an uncapped hypodermic needle and more wax folds in a rip in the vehicle’s interior roof liner.
Police said additional charges could be filed if a state examination of the white powder is positive for heroin.
Mr. Dupont was processed and released.
Angela Dagastino, 29, of New Center Road, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right after she was pulled over for crossing over the double yellow line on Valley Road at 2:04 a.m. March 10.
Ms. Dagastino was taken into custody after she failed several field sobriety tests, police said. At police headquarters, she was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.14 percent, police said.
Ms. Dagastino was processed and released to the custody of a relative.
Alexander Crow, 21, of Wescott Road, and Brian Seltzer, 20, of Skillman Close, were charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia after a traffic stop on Route 206 at 10:19 p.m. March 12.
Police pulled the vehicle over because the car’s registered owner’s license was suspended, police said. Mr. Seltzer, the driver of the vehicle, was actually the brother of the registered owner.
Mr. Seltzer and Mr. Crow were taken into custody after police found empty wax folds on the passenger side of the vehicle and a wire mesh and fork with cocaine in the center console.
Police said they also found a clear plastic bag with heroin in Mr. Crow’s wallet.
Mr. Crow was also charged with possession of heroin. He was released on his own recognizance, and is required to appear at the Somerset County Courthouse at 1:30 p.m. April 4.
Mr. Seltzer was also charged with a criminal offense of possession of cocaine and a motor vehicle offense of possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. He was processed and released.
Karen Machisin, 47, of Farm Road, was charged with third-degree theft after she admitted taking $10,236.59 through a series of false returns from Home Goods on Route 206 between August 2007, and March 12, police said.
A representative from the store said he observed her on surveillance tapes using the false returns to steal $1,460 from the cash register. Police said Ms. Machisin then admitted to stealing the rest of the money.
Bail for Ms. Machisin was set at $10,000 with a 10 percent option.
Ms. Machisin was transported to Somerset County Jail because she could not post bail. Her first appearance at the Somerset County Courthouse is set for 1 p.m. April 4.
Amy Wierbinsky, 24, of New Center Road, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and not wearing a seat belt on Route 206 after police pulled over the vehicle in which she was passenger at 9:58 a.m. March 7.
The driver of the vehicle, Mario Dagostino, 25, of New Center Road, was charged with possessing fireworks and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.
Police said they found fireworks on the rear driver’s side floor of the vehicle; a multi-colored smoking glass pipe with marijuana and a silver aluminum box with marijuana in the glove compartment; and a wood smoking pipe in the center console.
Police said they also found that Mr. Dagostino had an active warrant out of Hillsborough for $81.
Mr. Dagostino posted bail and was released.
Ms. Wierbinsky was processed and released as well.
An employee of Toll Brothers, which is building a development on Boehm Way, reported that someone stole 2,055 feet of copper service wire and 9 feet of service line from the site sometime between 12 p.m. Feb. 29 and 12 p.m. March 3.
The wire was valued at $10,000.
Walter Lockwood, 47, of Belle Mead, was charged with eluding, resisting arrest and contempt of court when he fled from police who were investigating a contempt of court violation of a restraining order at 8:55 a.m. March 25.
Police said they followed Mr. Lockwood, who refused to stop for police, until he was forced to stop behind a large box truck at a red traffic light on Willow Road. Police said Mr. Lockwood was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Bail was set at $15,000, with no 10 percent to apply. Mr. Lockwood was transported to Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.
Mr. Lockwood’s first court appearance is scheduled for April 11 at the Somerset County Courthouse.
