Mayor Eugene Golub FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – Mayor Eugene B. Golub was recently awarded the NJAWWA Water Utility Council’s Public ServiceAward by theNew Jersey Section of the American Water Works Association (NJAWWA).
According to a press release, Golub received this honor based upon his expertise and career-long contributions to the water industry as an educator, a researcher, an advisor to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, a local elected official and an active member of the American Water Association.
As a professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Golub has directed research, published articles, conducted detailed engineering studies of the Raritan River, the Passaic River, the Hackensack River and the Wanaque Reservoir.
He has prepared engineering studies and presentations related to flood management, water supply and waste water infrastructure, drought modeling and management,watershedmanagement; safe yield; and water systems energy management.
As an adviser to the state ofNew Jersey, Golub was appointed by the governor and has served on the Water Supply Advisory Council for more than 20 years. He has served as chairman since 1990 and in that capacity helped to coordinate three water supplymaster plans, according to the press release.
Golub served on the Governor’s Water Quality Institute and was appointed to the Council of Academic Policy Advisers by the state Legislature.
He has served as chairman of the NationalWater Resources Committee, theNational Water Utility Council Wetlands Advisory Committee and the New Jersey Section Education Committee.
Golub has served on the Township Committee since 1996 and is currently serving his second termasmayor.He also serves on the Planning Board and the Environmental Commission, and he sits on the board of theManasquan River Regional SewageAuthority.
“Dr. Golub is a highly respectedmember of the American Water Works Association and his dedication to Freehold Township is unsurpassed. This award is well deserved,” said Robert Koches, Freehold Township superintendent of utilities.
