AUSTIN, Texas — Florence R. Fort, 93, died April 14 at her daughter’s home.
Born in Pennington, she had resided in Pennington, Burlington, Crosswicks and, for the last five years, in Texas. She was a member of the Chesterfield Baptist Church and Keenagers of Chesterfield.
She was a member of the Morning Star Chapter 22, OES of Hamilton Square for over 70 years. Formerly a secretary with H.C.H. Trucking Company in Cranbury for more than 10 years, and a secretary for her husband’s company J. Sidney Fort Insurance in Crosswicks, Ms. Fort enjoyed playing cards and the piano.
Daughter of the late Theodore Howell and Ada Wilson Reed, wife of the late J. Sidney Fort, and mother of the late Thomas R. Fort and Roberta Lynn Fort, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sydna F. and Roger Hoover of Austin, Texas; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Theodore W. and Lorraine Fort of Williamsburg, Va., James Kenneth and Mendy Fort of Chalfont, Pa., Jay L. Fort of Burlington and John R. Fort of Redwood City, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, William and Claire Reed Oldenburg; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington with the Rev. Dr. Edward J. DeSilva, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Robert Davidson co-officiating. Burial was in Harbourton Cemetery.
