HIGHTSTOWN Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Janda, 74, died Sunday at the Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis in Trenton.
Born in New Brunswick, she lived in the HightstownEast Windsor area for 55 years.
With her husband, she co-owned and operated Janda’s Paint & Wallpaper store in East Windsor, retiring 10 years ago. She was a past secretary of the Hightstown PTA and the Lioness Club.
An avid reader, Ms. Janda also enjoyed traveling, bingo, Atlantic City, flowers and, most of all, weekly family gatherings.

Daughter of the late Frank Sanford and sister of the late Nicholas Sanford, she is survived by her husband of 55 years, Frank Janda; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Edward Meisner, Elizabeth Smith, Linda and Glenn Scupp, and Patricia Janda; grandchildren Jesse Smith and wife Antonia, Sarah DeWitt and husband John, Eric Smith and wife Heather, Philip Taylor and Heather Meisner; great-grandchildren Tyler and Amber DeWitt, Kyle Smith, Isabella Smith and soon-to-be-born baby DeWitt; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Frank (Sonny) and Sally, Milton (Butchie) and Vincent (Bobby) Sanford; sisters Ruth Stutz, Lorraine Owens and Margaret Bargar; special aunt Margaret Corbin; special niece Vikki Richardson and her husband, Stanley; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, Hightstown.
Interment followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown.
