High Tech High School offers enrichment courses

High Technology High School on the campus of Brookdale Community College in Lincroft will host a series of summer courses for middle school students.

The Summer Enrichment Program for academically motivated students is available to children who will be entering the sixth, seventh and eighth grade in September.

Peter Borchardt, a teacher atHigh Technology High School, described the program as “a unique opportunity for a child to work with other academically motivated students under the guidance of teachers who are passionate about their disciplines.”

Seven classes will be offered: Building Digital Circuits; CO2 Drag Racing Car Technology; Experimental Design and Data Logging; FlashAnimation andWeb Design; Magnetic Levitation Technology; Problem Solving in the Environment; and Solar Car Technology.

The classes are completely activitybased and make full use of the laboratories and technology available in the high school. High TechnologyHigh School teachers who have developed many of the programs are the instructors.

Classes are a week long and run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Classes will begin on June 23 and run throughAug. 1. Classes are priced at $185. Children from all communities in Monmouth County may apply for admission.

“What’s great about this program,” Borchardt said, “is that many students who participate end up loving it and coming to High Technology for high school.”

He said he is proud of the summer program’s success in the past several years. Early registration is encouraged. Registration will end on June 13.
