• Neighbors Opposed to Privatization at Earle (NOPE) will hold a community briefing on the U.S. government’s plan to permit civilian housing at Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck. The community briefing will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 28 in the auditorium of Colts Neck High School, Route 537 and Five Points Road, Colts Neck. The Freehold Art Society will hold a meeting and demonstration on May 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Brookdale Community College Western Monmouth Campus, 3680 Route 9 south, Freehold Township. Suzanne Pilgram, a professional artist and college professor from Howell, will demonstrate the art of solar painting. Refreshments will be served and the meeting is free and open to the public. The Marlboro library board of trustees will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 29 in honor of Jennifer King, branch librarian, who will be moving to another position in the Monmouth County Library System. The Manalapan Arts Council will present Cabaret Night at 7 p.m. May 30 in the ballroom at Knob Hill Country Club, Route 33, Manalapan. The Rev. Theresa D’Souza-Greenhough will be the guest speaker at Monmouth Worship Center, 176 Route 79, Marlboro, June 1 at both morning services, 8:30 and 11 a.m. Born in Bombay, India, Sister Theresa has ministered in the leper colony outside Bombay founded by Mother Theresa. She taught at and was principal of the Loreto Educational Institute in India. She also has worked at the Fountain of Life Center in Burlington. The Italian American Association (IAA) of Monmouth County will host its second annual Italian American Festival, June 26-29 at Freehold Raceway Route 9 north, Freehold Township. Admission and parking are free. The festival will feature rides, games, auction prizes, face painting, crafters, Italian novelties, car show, entertainment, bocce tournament, strolling Italian minstrels, fireworks and Italian food. Applications are being accepted for vendors.
