Rachael Van Pelt, Wilson Cove
The Locks Of Love Cut-A-Thon that was held from March 12 to 28 was a great success. My name is Rachel Van Pelt organizer of the project in order to educate people on alopecia and Locks Of Love for my Girl Scout Silver Award Project.
Students at Hillsborough Middle School had the opportunity to receive further information about alopecia and the Locks Of Love organization during a video. To date, 13 donations have been made to Locks Of Love. I would like to thank the following individuals for their assistance: Linda at Changes Salon, Jen at Renaissance Salons, Jeff at Hair Works, Ann Marie at Hair Plus, Alison Mann and Ms. Jacobsen for help with the educational video. Susan Van Pelt, Rob Perna of Cameo HD Productions for video production; Wendy at Wal-Mart; Chris at Costco for stationery supplies, Dr. Trybulski at Hillsborough Middle School for school announcements and video display and members of Girl Scout Troops 620, 189 and 641 for posters decorating/box displays.
The 13 donations received will be enough to help several children with alopeca and cancer to have a wig. In addition, more people in Hillsborough have been educated about alopeia.
