Retired from Lucent Technologies
MONTGOMERY — Joseph Louis Rogers died June 2 at home in the Belle Mead section of the township. He was 70.
Born and raised in Forest City, N.C., he lived in Summit, Plainfield and Somerset before moving to Montgomery.
He worked in plant operations for Lucent Technologies for over 35 years retiring in 2007.
He was a member of the Lucent fire brigade and the local Communications Workers of America.
In his free time, he enjoyed playing chess and pingpong, talking politics, watching TV, especially soap operas.
Brother of the late George, Clyde, Franklin, Davis and Hester, he is survived by his wife, Susan Moller Rogers; sons Winfrey, Thomas, Chris and Eric; daughters and sons-in-law Daphne Rogers, Muriel and Al Williams, Lindsey and Jesse Rodie and Kimberley and Chris Nabinger; brother Standford Rogers; sisters and brother-in-law Ethel Lee Floyd and Lovie and David Hopkins; sisters-in-law and their husbands Karen and Michael Miles, Lori and Kevin Mooney, Linda and Joe Galaro, Inez Rogers and Sinda Rogers; brother-in-law Wade Blackley; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Somerset.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, East Millstone.
Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hillsborough Funeral Home, 7967 Route 206, Hillsborough.
