Quick thinking and selfless determination to save someone else. It’s not anyone that will risk their life to save another. It often goes unappreciated or unrecognized because it’s expected of those that serve. Having been in that situation before, I can speak from experience; it’s not always easy to do what needs to be done.
(On May 21) a woman was trapped in her overturned minivan on Route 520, it was on fire, power lines were hanging down perilously close to the vehicle. With complete disregard for his own safety, a police officer smashed one of the windows and pulled her out. I’m proud to say this wasMarlboro police officer JerryArminio.
The thing is, faced with these decisions, I believe any officer would have done the same thing. I know we’re the first to complain about a ticket for using a cell phone or going 10 (miles) over (the speed limit), but when it comes down to it, these guys rock!
Thank a cop, thank a volunteer firefighter, thank an EMS volunteer, and thank a serviceman, for all you folks do, for everyone you save, for the freedom you protect.
