Local artist’s artwork on exhibit at Rutgers

Metuchen’s own Joan Arbeiter is displaying her “Lives and Works: Talks With Women Artists” portrait series at the Rutgers Art Library, Voorhees Hall, 71 Hamilton St., New Brunswick, through June 13.

The portrait series is a companion project to the book “Lives and Works: Talks withWomenArtists, Volume 2,” co-authored by Beryl Smith, Sally Swenson and Joan Arbeiter, and published by Scarecrow Press in 1996. Included both in the book and the portrait series are the artists Dotty Attie, Nancy Azara, Cathey Billian, Agnes Denes, Patricia Lay, Charlotte Robinson, Ce Roser,Miriam Schapiro, Mimi Smith, Joan Snyder, Kay WalkingStick and Jackie Winsor.

Arbeiter is also displaying her “Portrait of an Artist as a Young Girl Fulfilling Society’s Limited Expectations” at the library.
