Special thanks given for eighth-grade dance

The Millstone Township Middle School PTSA hosted its annual eighth-grade dance on the evening of June 6. The theme for the event was “A Red Carpet Affair” and was clearly a memorable night for the kids. The girls all looked liked belles of the ball and the boys looked so handsome dressed in their respective suits.

The cafeteria was transformed into a grand ballroom by the efforts of Marlana Hogan and other volunteer parents and students who started their efforts at 2:30 p.m. that day. They only had a few hours to complete this transformation before the guests started arriving and their efforts paid off in a huge way. The cafeteria was unrecognizable by the time they were done and when we walked through the doors, it felt like we were entering a Hollywood movie premier.

I would like to extend a special thanks to a few individuals and establishments who made the evening a smashing success. Scotto’s Ristorante of East Windsor and Albivi’s of Millstone donated all the dinner food for the event. Both establishments were so generous and the food was excellent. The children enjoyed the food immensely and as I watched them line up to fill their plates, I heard many of them say “wow” as they saw the spread that awaited them.

Thanks to the Albarella family who generously supplied all the finger food for the event. It was a great way to get the party started.

Thank you toMia Sciaulino, who made 300 chocolate covered pretzels. What a fantastic presentation they made and they were delicious.

Also, thank you to Tammi Porzl and her Girl Scout Troop 9 for baking and decorating 200 cupcakes.

To all the parents who donated brownies, cookies, fruit trays, hot dog buns, soda, water, etc. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Lastly, none of this would have been possible without the enormous effort given by Cheryl Abate. She volunteered to oversee and delegate every aspect of this event. Without her gallant effort, this dance would never have come to fruition. It was truly a great success. Thank you, Cheryl … for everything.
