Fire safety question?

John Schafer, president, Hopewell Valley Professional Fire Fighters Association
During the week of June 22, the Hopewell Valley Professional Fire Fighters Association will be taking part in a nationally recognized training event, “Fire/EMS Safety Week: Committed to Long Term Results,” sponsored by the International Association of Fire Fighters Union, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Hopewell Township Board of Fire Commissioners.
This training began four years ago as departments around the country attempted to find ways to reduce the average of 100 firefighter fatalities that occur each year. The training will consist of inspections of firefighting personal protective equipment, reviews of firefighter fatality reports, hazard identifications located throughout our community, and full implementation of a wellness and fitness program.
The Hopewell Valley Professional Fire Fighters Association reminds all residents to practice fire safety and to test their smoke detectors monthly. The firefighters would be happy to answer any questions regarding fire safety. Simply call fire headquarters at 730-8156.
