The Borough of Matawan will hold its Independence Day fireworks and celebration Sunday, July 6, from 6-10 p.m. The fireworks display will begin at dark.
The celebration will be held at Lake Lefferts lakeside facilities located on Ravine Drive and Matawan Avenue.
All are invited to join Matawan’s annual Independence Day celebration and shop for handmade jewelry, fun accessories and novelty toys and enjoy a variety of food and desserts.

Middletown Township Public Library, 55 New Monmouth Road, will host the Wii Summer Games July 24-Aug. 15. Gaming for seniors age 65 and older will be 10 a.m. to noon July 14 and 31, and Aug. 11 and 15. Gaming for families will be 7-9 p.m. July 15 and Aug. 18. Dunkin’ Donuts, Tinton Falls, has donated $10,000 from the Dunkin’ Brands Community Foundation to the Jersey Coast Chapter of The American Red Cross, Tinton Falls. The donation will aid in the training and certification of more than 250 New Jersey volunteers at the Disaster Training Institute.
The check was presented to Red Cross Disaster Training Institute volunteers Ellen Korpar and Antonia Silver, Ocean Township, who continue to serve New Jersey, while the following local volunteers are offering aid to residents of Midwest states after severe flooding and tornadoes hit the region: William “Bud” Colfer, Howell, deployed to assist in the Wisconsin floods; Linda Toop, Lincroft section of Middletown, deployed to Wisconsin, and processing client casework; and Mary O’Donnell, Jackson, in Wisconsin.
