Free downloads, VIP passes for blood donation

Music Saves Lives and the Vans Warped Tour is partnering with N.J. Blood Services (NJBS) in reaching out to high school and college students to educate and encourage blood donations and bone marrow donor matching, during a time when supplies in area hospitals are dangerously low.

Individuals who donate blood at the Edison First Aid & Rescue Squad, 33 Lakeview Blvd., Edison, between 1 and 6:30 p.m. July 19 will receive a download card with music by the bands that are a part of the tour. Although donors will need to purchase their own tickets to the concerts, each person donating blood will also receive a VIP pass that provides special access to backstage areas.

Donors must be in generally good health, 17 years of age or older and weigh at least 110 pounds. Persons with tattoos or piercings are eligible to donate provided they were done in a licensed New Jersey shop, or are more than a year old.

Blood donors must know their Social Security number and present a photo or signed ID. Those younger than 17 years of age may have someone donate on their behalf to receive the CD and VIP pass.

Medical questions regarding eligibility should be directed to NJ Blood Services at 1-800- 933-BLOOD (2566). For information regarding additional Music Saves Lives blood drives, view www.musicsaveslives.com/signup.html
