Linda Costello, 38, of Trenton, was arrested on the charges of hindering apprehension and having eight outstanding contempt of court warrants at 10:44 p.m. Sunday following a motor-vehicle stop on University Place. She had warrants from various jurisdictions totaling a $2,089 cash bail. Ms. Costello was transported to police headquarters, processed and committed in default of bail.
Ryan Smith, 20, of Pennington was charged with driving while intoxicated at 1:06 a.m. July 11 following a motor-vehicle stop on Edgehill Street. The accused was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on his own recognizance.
Walter Smith, 52, of Trenton was arrested on Nassau Street on various outstanding warrants at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. The warrants were from Trenton Municipal Court and Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, and totaled $36,604 cash bail, police said. Mr. Smith was transported to police headquarters, processed and committed in default of bail.
Benjamin Weeks, 29, of Redding Circle was arrested on Nassau Street at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday on charges of having several outstanding contempt of court warrants. The warrants were from Princeton Township and Montgomery Township municipal courts, totaling a $581 cash bail. Mr. Weeks was transported to police headquarters, processed and turned over to the Princeton Township Police Department.
Jermaine Scotland, 34, of Trenton was arrested at 12:31 p.m. July 10 on the charges of having several outstanding contempt of court warrants following a motor vehicle stop on Stockton Street. The warrants were from Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, Trenton Municipal Court, West Deptford Municipal Court and Ewing Township Municipal Court, and totaled $5,591 cash bail. Mr. Scotland was transported to police headquarters, processed and committed in default of bail.
Montgomery
An unoccupied white Ford Econoline van owned by a Cherry Valley Road resident was damaged in a fire on Saturday. There were no injuries or other property damage, but the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames by the time emergency units arrived at 9 p.m. at the owner’s driveway. The fire appeared to have started in the engine compartment of the van, which was used as a commercial vehicle.
Robert Byrne, 24, of East Windsor was charged with driving while intoxicated at 2:29 a.m. Sunday on Route 206 near Harlingen. The officer on patrol noticed Mr. Byrne’s gold Saturn weaving on the roadway and pulled the car over in the parking lot of the Village Shopper, police said. The officer detected an alcohol odor on Mr. Byrne’s breath during questioning and had him conduct field sobriety tests. He was also charged with improper maintenance of lamps and failure to maintain a lane.
Steven A. Damico, 19, of Hudson, Mass., was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Route 533 for an equipment violation and a bag of marijuana and a cigar was seen protruding from his pocket, police said.
Jerry J. Joseph, 20, of East Hanover was charged with careless driving at 7:20 a.m. Monday after he crashed his car on Route 206 at the Belle Mead bridge, police said. He was heading south on the wet roadway and at a left curve lost control of his vehicle, police said. His 1996 Lexus struck a guide rail off the southbound shoulder. There were no reported injuries at the scene. Mr. Joseph is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Township Municipal Court.
A Burnt Hill Road resident reported that fireworks damaged his outdoor light and post about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. He said he heard an explosion at the end of his driveway but did not investigate until morning. An exploding firework had damaged the light and light post, causing an estimated $35 in damage.
A Watertown Court resident reported Tuesday that someone smeared ketchup on her car while it was parked at the Princeton North Shopping Center. The incident, which caused no damage to the vehicle, occurred between 3:30 p.m. and 6:35 p.m.
Matthew T. Tatham, 27, of Plainsboro was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on an outstanding warrant issued by the Pierce County Superior Court in Washington state and charged with being a fugitive from justice. He was parked illegally in a fire zone at the Princeton North Shopping Center and the officer giving a parking summons spoke to Mr. Tatham and checked his driver’s license, which disclosed an active warrant, police said. He was taken into custody and is in Somerset County jail pending extradition to the state of Washington.
Lisa M. Morrison, 24, of Hillsborough was arrested at 4:37 p.m. Tuesday on an outstanding warrant issued by the Montgomery Township Municipal Court. A random registration inquiry on her vehicle on Route 206 disclosed the active warrant, police said. She posted $165 in bail and was released.
West Windsor
Someone stole a blue Cannondale bicycle and bicycle lock from a rack at the Wallace Road pay lot at the Princeton Junction train station between 6:15 p.m. Sunday and 4 a.m. Monday. The bicycle was valued at $300.
Someone stole a women’s purse from a fitting room at the Kohl’s department store in the Nassau Park shopping center between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Friday. Inside the leather purse was $701 in cash and a Samsung cell phone.
Plainsboro
The greens near the second hole of the Meadows at Middlesex Golf Course on Hunters Glen Drive were damaged between 9 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday. In addition, two hole flags sustained $120 in damage.
A Tennyson Drive resident reported that a 2003 Honda was scratched July 15 or 16. Damage was estimated at $50.
