F. Donald “Smoky” VanHorn, 82, of Titusville died Sunday at the Compassionate Care Hospice, Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong Titusville area resident. He was retired from Eggomatic Corp. in Pennington where he was a sheet metal worker.
He was a radio man in the U.S. Navy Air Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He received the Combat Aircrew Insignia, Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, American Theater Medal, Victory Medal and Air Medal.
He was a member of the Union Fire Company and Rescue Squad, Titusville. He was an avid golfer.
Son of the late Frank C. and Mary Louise Sommers VanHorn, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Strange VanHorn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jack Lefferts of Newtown, Pa., and Debra and Dennis Montgomery of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Brian and Rebecca Lefferts and Nicole Montgomery.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, 1370 River Road, Titusville.
Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Hamilton.
