The Metuchen Public Library, 480 Middlesex Ave., will host the following events and programs; registration for the book review clubs is required, and new members may need a reading buddy. Titles will be announced later.

Registration is required for After Dinner Adventures, Thursdays at 7 p.m.:
•Aug. 7, Wetlands Institute presents “Cool Creatures with Amazing Features” (live animals, please use discretion)
• Aug. 14, Piccirillo Science Telling presents “The Jungle of Jersey.”
Children must be able to sit quietly for Friday Films at the Library. No registration is required. Film titles will be announced:
• 11 a.m. Aug 15, Feature Flicks for ages 5 and up
• 11 a.m. Aug. 8, Mini Movies for age 2 and up with adult
Story time at the Metuchen Pool will be held 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 5. Check the pool’s bulletin board to find out the location.
The library is offering the following free programs for teens entering grades 6-12:
• Thursday Afternoon at the Movies, 2 p.m. Aug. 7, “The Karate Kid.”
• Author visit with Robert Kaplow, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13. Meet the author of “Me and Orson,” which is currently being made into a film staring Zac Ephron and Claire Danes.
• Fencing, 2-3 p.m. Aug. 14. An introduction to fencing, its swords, equipment and rules of the sport.
