Andy Miller reached a milestone at Freehold Raceway on Friday when he scored a win in the second race on the card with Fancy Muffler. The win was the 6,000th of his career. Miller, who began driving in 1985, has scored 289 wins in 2008. The 39-year-old Miller had his best season in 2005 when he had 581 wins.

Freehold Raceway, the nation’s oldest and fastest daytime track, opened its summer/fall season on Thursday in front of more than 1,000 fans. Jack Baggitt and Dave Miller each had three wins on 10- race card. The fastest mile of the day was 1:56.0 by both DreamsmindsLatte and Wyatt’s Delight.

Chance of a Lifetime, a Western Ideal colt out of Lifetime Member, was judged the Grand Champion at the 2008 Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New JerseyHorse Show. The show was held Sunday at the Horse Park of New Jersey in Upper Freehold Township.

As the top-ranked colt, Chance of a Lifetime was matched against the top filly yearling, Sorcha Bluestone by Rocknroll Hanover out of Silky Satin, for Grand Champion honors. The horses won $600 for finishing first with Chance of a Lifetime getting the bonus $1,500 for being the Grand Champion.
