With the 2008 Olympic Games taking place in Beijing, China, the Middletown Township Public Library is presenting programs with an Olympic spirit, including an exhibit of photographs of China.
“An American in China, Etc.” will run through Aug. 29 at the library, located at 55 New Monmouth Road.
The exhibit showcases 53 images photographer Arthur Krasinsky took on a recent trip to four cities in China. Some of the images include the Chengdu area where a devastating earthquake took place recently.
The images in the show were selected from more than 5,000 photos he took during the trip and include the Terra Cotta Warriors, the Great Wall, museum collections, garden scenes, landscapes and cityscapes.
“The show,” Krasinsky said, “is meant to look behind the news headlines we see of China and its people and hopefully build a bridge through which we can relate to one of the most ancient and interesting civilizations that is going through unbelievable change but not without growing pains.”
