‘Invasive Species’ workshop scheduled

The Middlesex County Extension Agricultural Office will host an “Invasive Species” garden workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at the EARTH Center, Davidson’sMill Pond Park, South Brunswick.

The workshop will offer information on how homeowners can do their part in helping to prevent foreign plant and insect species from crowding out the more desirable native species in a landscape.

Bruce Barbour, environmental program leader for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Morris County, will be the guest presenter.

The 2008 gardening workshops at the EARTH Center are an alternative opportunity for individuals who cannot commit to the weekday Middlesex County Master Gardeners classes. Registration is required by Aug. 20. Program fee is $25. Class size is limited; early registration is encouraged.
