Company president
James Mathison Kyte Jr. of Princeton died Saturday. He was 81.
Born in Glen Ridge, he was a longtime resident of Princeton Borough.
He was president and CEO of Coated Products Co. in Middlesex, N.J. and spent his years before retirement as a consultant.
Mr. Kyte graduated from The Peddie School in 1945 before serving in the Army in the final year of World War II. He was stationed in Bremen, Germany.
He graduated from Dickinson College in 1950, where he met and married his wife.
He participated in the 1964 Olympic Trials in the Flying Dutchman sailing competition.
He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Princeton University Chapel.
With his wife, he was an avid fan of all athletic teams of Princeton University. In his later years, he spent the summer with his family at the Jersey shore.
Son of the late James M. and Lucille Gowdy Kyte, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Ahl Kyte; daughters and son-in-law Kimberly Kyte of Princeton and Jamie K. and John Sapoch of Hopewell; grandchildren Emily and Jack Sapoch; sister and brother-in-law Constance K. and James Downs of Florida; brother Bruce Kyte of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Princeton University Chapel.
