Mr. Winston, 42, of Clarksburg in Millstone and formerly of Edison, died Aug. 15, 2008, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township. He received a baseball scholarship from Rutgers University and continued playing professionally for 12 years. Mr. Winston came up with the Montreal Expos and played in the majors for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1997-98, finishing his career with the Somerset Patriots. After retiring as a player, he remained active as a baseball instructor and worked with the Millstone Township Pop Warner and Little League baseball. Mr. Winston was predeceased by his mother, Gloria. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jerilyn; six children, Lauren, Jenna, Jacob, Noelle, Jordan and Jillian; his father, Robert, of Edison; two brothers, Corey of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Scott of Jackson; a sister, Candi Turso of Vernon; and a grandson. A funeral service was held at the Abundant Life Church of God, Freehold, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. Memorial donations to a Winston family trust may be made. Arrangements were under the direction of the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
