The Haven Hospice Program at Solaris Health System, servicing Middlesex, Union and parts of Monmouth and Somerset counties, will host an open house 6 p.m. Sept. 25 in the third-floor conference room of JFK Medical Center, 65 James St., Edison. The event will offer information about opportunities that will put volunteer’s special skills and valuable time to good use. A training program in October is offered to all volunteers to acquaint them with Haven Hospice.
Anyone interested in volunteering to serve their community is invited to attend. There is a great demand for volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Some of the opportunities available to local residents include home visitation, nursing home and hospital visitation, office support, transportation, hairstylist, cosmetology, group facilitators, massage therapist, and piano playing at the in-patient unit.
