The Princeton Joint Recreation Board approved a draft of its 10-year master plan and announced that it has selected the CMX engineering and consulting firm as its primary contractor for designing a major improvement concept plan for Community Park Pool during its Thursday meeting.
The draft master plan will be presented to the township and the borough during a 7 p.m. Sept. 15 joint meeting at Princeton Township Hall.
The draft, which is not being made available to the general public until Sept. 15, calls for upgrades and renovations to the pool complex. It also makes general recommendations for all other areas the Joint Recreation Board oversees, such as recreation facilities, programs, fields, tennis courts and parks.
CMX, which was officially contracted by the Joint Recreation Department last week, will be introduced to the community at a Sept. 6 meeting on future plans for the pool complex. During the meeting, which will be held at Community Park Pool between noon and 3 p.m., CMX representatives will listen to suggestions and discuss ideas for the complex from the community.
Ted Ernst, assistant director of the recreation department, said the Sept. 6 meeting was likely to be the first of three opportunities for the community to give input on the future of the pool complex.
In other business:
• Katie Herlihy, the recreation department’s program supervisor, announced that the pool complex recently failed electrical bonding and grounding inspections required by the state to be completed every five years. She said remediation work, which will cost $1,600, will be completed soon.
Ms. Herlihy said swimming in the pool remains safe.
”This is not a emergency situation for the pool,” she said.
• The board approved offering two new programs this fall, chess and juggling. Chess sessions will begin on Sept. 15 and will be available for students aged 6 to 12 and juggling will begin on Oct. 7 for ages 9 and over.
