HOLMDEL — The school community of St. John Vianney High School has been working diligently toward a vision for the future.
Among the many changes occurring this summer is the implementation of a new administrative structure.
Joseph Deroba, the school’s principal since 1986, has assumed the role of president. Steven DiMezza, assistant principal of curriculum, has succeeded Deroba as principal.
According to a press release from the school, DiMezza has held various positions at SJV, including dean of students in 1997, and assistant principal of curriculum in 1999. He has been actively coaching since his early days at SJV, helping to develop student athletes in football, softball, bowling and field hockey.
New to the SJV administrative staff are Lauren DeMundo, who will serve as assistant principal of academic affairs, and Dana Schaed, who is now the assistant principal of student life.
According to a press release from the high school, the restructuring is focused on “molding the future of SJV into a creative, intellectual and spiritual experience for all who enter its halls.”
DeMundo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in secondary education and a Master of Arts degree in administration and leadership. She taught at Madonna High School in West Virginia and received her Master of Arts degree from Georgian Court University, a Catholic university in Lakewood.
Schaed holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and a Master of Science degree in administration and is currently enrolled in Rowan University’s Doctorate of Educational Leadership program.
Schaed will implement Middle States objectives for student life by providing appropriate student activities that foster a positive, intellectual, and social climate while also providing growth and student leadership and social interaction skills, the press release states. DeMundo will work closely with administration and staff to set educational standards and goals and establish the policies and procedures to achieve them.
SJV has also undergone major renovations to provide students with an environment that encourages students to accomplish their goals. The capital improvements include a new turf athletic field, a new boiler system, and air conditioning throughout the building. SJV also looks forward to adding an athletic bubble to its 38-acre campus on Line Road.
