    Friday, Aug. 29 — Peter Tork of The Monkees will perform at The Record Collector, 358 Farnsworth Ave. in Bordentown City at 7:30 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. Tickets for the first show are sold out.

    Friday, Aug. 29 — Mario & Frank’s II Acousti-licious Bistro present electro-ambient keyboardist Yoko K. from 6 to 8 p.m. at 231 Fourth St., Fieldsboro. BYOB for this exclusive deck performance. Bulldog registration
    Through Sept. 4 — Bordentown Bulldogs Football registrations will be accepted through Sept. 4. You do not need to be a resident of Bordentown to play. Shrimp Nite
    Friday, Sept. 5 — The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 on Fourth Avenue, Roebling, will resume its monthly Shrimp Nite on Sept. 5 starting at 5 p.m. and continuing until sold out. You will get 15 large peel yourself shrimp with homemade potato salad and cole slaw for $10. For those wanting something different, we also serve meatball sandwiches with the same salads for $7. Dessert comes with both platters. It is a great time to spend meeting old friends and neighbors.

Casino trip
    Sunday, Sept. 7 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 will sponsor a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. A bus will leave St. Mary’s Church parking lot at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay. The cost is $25 per person and each attendee will receive $25 in cash. For reservations call Bob, 298-5530.
Social evening
    Sunday, Sept. 7 — The Widows and Widowers of Burlington County will present a social evening of good music and dancing for widows and widowers only from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 147 Route 130 North, Bordentown. Ethnic festival
    Sunday, Sept. 7 — St. Nicholas Parish in Roebling will be holding its annual Ethnic Festival on Sunday, Sept. 7 from noon to 6 p.m., at St. Nick’s picnic grove. Music provided by John Stanky and the Coalminers. Admission is $2 for adults, children free with adult. Many ethnic foods, pig on a spit and homemade pastries.
Auxiliary meeting
    Tuesday, Sept. 9 — The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Auxiliary Unit 39 in Roebling, will have its first meeting of the new year at 7 p.m. Joan Horn, the new president will take over the helm with the help of 1st Vice President Margo Mathis, 2nd Vice President Eileen Foga, Secretary/Chaplain Pat Stojinski, Treasurer Betty Wargo, Historian Maryann Lathrop and Sgt-at-Arms Debbie Burr. Membership chairman is Maryann Lathrop at 499-2829 so if there is anyone who would like to join, please give her a call.
Book discussions
    Wednesday, Sept. 10 — Book discussions are held the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Bordentown Library, East Union Street, in Bordentown City.
    On Sept. 10, the book “Between Georgia” by Joshilyn Jackson will be discussed. This hilarious story set down South tells the story of the Crabtrees and the Fretts, two feuding families. Nonny, who was born a Crabtree but raised by the Fretts, is in between in many ways. A book group favorite that inspires spirited discussion about everything from deaf-mute individuals to dieting.
    On Oct. 8, “Netherland” by Joseph O’Neill will be up for discussion. And Nov. 12, “Plague of Doves” by Louise Erdrich.
Commission meeting
    Wednesday, Sept. 10 — The regular monthly meeting of the Bordentown City Environmental Commission (BCEC) will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Carslake Community Center. For more information on local environmental issues, check out www.bcec.us.
Ski club
    Wednesday, Sept. 10 — Bordentown Ski Club monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Bordentown Elks Lodge, 11 Amboy Road, Bordentown.
    Bordentown Ski club is a group of people who love to ski, socialize and travel and are not afraid to save money on lift tickets. Hebrew school
    Sunday, Sept. 14 — Temple B’nai Abraham, reconstructionist congregation, will host a Hebrew school open house to register for Religious School (Sunday and Hebrew School) for ages 5 to 13 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Temple, 58 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Come meet the teachers and the rabbi and tour the temple. Interfaith families are welcome.

Breakfast meeting
    Saturday, Sept. 20 — In an effort to get more members to attend a monthly meeting, the regular monthly meeting of the Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 in Roebling normally scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 18, will be held on Saturday morning, Sept. 20, at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will start out with a breakfast of scrambled eggs and home fries. The meeting will start right after breakfast is finished. All members are urged to come out and enjoy the breakfast and meeting.
Country Fair
    Saturday, Sept. 20 — The North Hanover Country Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain date Sept. 21, at Green Acres Park, Schoolhouse Road (C.B. Lamb School).
    Plans include a car show sponsored by Liberty Toyota, 4H petting zoo and pony rides, Firefighters Chili Cook-off, Farmer’s Market, scheduled entertainment and much more. Come visit us in North Hanover to enjoy a day of good old fashion family fun.

Nature walk
    Saturday, Sept. 20 — Friends for the Marsh is holding a nature walk at the Bordentown Bluffs, from 10 a.m. to noon. Leaders: Philo Elmer and Charlie Fisher. Oldies Night
    Saturday, Sept. 27 — The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 on Fourth Avenue, Roebling, will sponsor an “Oldies Night” on Saturday, Sept. 27th at the Post Home. The doors will open at 6 p.m. with a buffet to begin at 7 p.m. The DJ will provide music from 8 p.m. until midnight. Tickets are $25 each and include beer and wine. Fall Festival
    Saturday, Sept. 27 — Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 280 Crosswicks Road, Bordentown is hosting its fourth annual Fall Festival Craft Fair and Flea Market from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. All other activities 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Other activities include: air jumper, dunk tank, music, live animals and pony rides, carnival games with prizes, bake sale, food and beverage, etc. Proceeds benefit HCLC Ministries such as the Isaiah Project. Village festival
    Saturday, Sept. 27 — The 20th annual Crosswicks Village Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 27.
    A wide variety of activities is scheduled including an antique car display, house tours ($10), vintage 1873 baseball game, book and bake sales, colonial dancers, pony rides, face painting, sand art, silent auction, childrens games, chili tasting contest. Old time corn-husking will be demonstrated. Tiger Town Trio will play Dixieland. A Civil War encampment will be in place. Crafters will exhibit unusual handmade items. Food for all ages all day long. A spaghetti dinner will end the day at the Crosswicks Firehouse ($8 adults).
    The festival is sponsored by Chesterfield Township Historical Society, Crosswicks Community Association, Crosswicks Library, Crosswicks Methodist Church and Crosswicks Fire Company. Information, 609-477-7101.
Golf outing
    Saturday, Oct. 11 — The Mission Fire Company annual golf outing will begin at 10 a.m. at Springfield Golf Center, Jacksonville-Mount Holly Road. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. at Mission Fire Company, 51 Groveville Road, Bordentown Township. $85 per golfer includes greens fee and cart, food and beverages at the turn, a steak dinner, door prizes and awards.
