St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edison, will host an emergency blood drive for New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS) on Friday, Sept. 5, from 3 to 8:30 p.m.
Local blood supplies are at dangerously low levels because of vacations and several summer heat waves that have kept donors at home. NJBS supplies blood and blood products to nearly 160 Garden State hospitals.
All donors receive free mini-medical exams on-site, including information about their temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure and hemoglobin level. Eligible donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health.
