I have been serving the community for more than 18 years and, God-willing, I will be able to continue to serve all of you for many more years.
I am reaching out to the community as I am caught in a situation that I cannot control by myself. When the South Brunswick school system has only a half-day session, the students gather at my deli to spend time before going home. I have had more than 150 children at the same time “hanging out” for more than two hours. This is not acceptable for many reasons:
• It is a safety issue not only for the children but for my customers both in the deli trying to enjoy lunch as well as trying to drive in the parking lot.
• It is against the township fire safety ordinance because it exceeds the allowable capacity of people.
• The children are running through my landscaping and uprooting plants.
• They are skateboarding in my parking lot and interfering with my customers trying to drive.
• They are sitting out in the gazebo that I installed for weddings.
Please understand that I love children — I have five of my own. As a concerned parent and business owner, please help me by asking your children to go directly home after being dismissed from school.
