University Medical Center at Princeton (UMCP) began demolition and other site preparation
Having received site plan approval from Plainsboro Township Planning Board on July 7th for its replacement hospital, University Medical Center at Princeton (UMCP) began demolition and other site preparation work last week at the new site in Plainsboro on Route One between Scudders Mill Road and Plainsboro Road. Construction of the 243-bed, state-of-the-art facility is expected to take three years. In 2011, a building that inspires, is technologically innovative, reflects the highest level of excellence in hospital design and sustainable design will be on a site featuring indigenous landscaping, healing gardens and a 32-acre public park along the Millstone River.
The land and improvements for the park are being donated to Plainsboro by University Medical Center at Princeton. Also pictured is the architect’s rendering of the replacement hospital, a joint venture design by the internationally renowned firms HOK and RMJM Hillier.
