Walkers and bikers alike may share their views on the adequacy of bicycle and pedestrian paths in Lawrence Township with state Department of Transportation officials and township officials Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting, which has been billed as a public information center, is set for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the Lawrence Township Police and Municipal Court building. The building is across the parking lot from the Municipal Building.
DOT and township officials will share the results of a township-commissioned study of bicycle and pedestrians paths in Lawrence at the Wednesday afternoon session. Officials are seeking feedback from the public on issues and opportunities regarding bicycle and pedestrian access in the township.
Lawrence Township received a grant in January to pay for a master plan for bicycle paths and pedestrian walkways in the township, Municipal Manager Richard Krawczun said. The grant was awarded through the DOT’s Local Bicycle/Pedestrian Planning Assistance Program.
In seeking the grant, Mr. Krawczun told DOT officials that the study would identify existing bicycle paths and pedestrian paths. It would create a master plan that would identify locations for future development of paths to connect with existing ones.
