John McCain is not the answer

Richard Moody of West Windsor
In response to the sarcastic, untrue and demeaning attacks on Barack Obama’s record at the GOP convention, it’s worth remembering that no previous role or experience prepares a man or woman for the position of president of the United States — certainly not being the hockey mom mayor of a small Alaskan town and governor of an isolated state or a brave POW in Hanoi.
The leadership of this country depends on sound judgment, international communications, integrity, intelligence, a seasoned cabinet and the support and respect of those allies who have been alienated over the past eight years by the current administration. Sen. Obama has demonstrated he has the required qualities to lead this nation to better times.
Sen. McCain is a warmongering extension of the failed Bush policies and he has yet to explain his definition for "victory" in Iraq. Just ask the Iraqis about victory; they have no viable infrastructure and are still subject daily to multiple fatalities.
Sen. McCain’s impulsiveness, volatility and temper are not what this nation needs in these difficult times and he is totally unsuited to be the next president of the United States. And the thought of his choice for vice president becoming president, should Sen. McCain’s age and health get the better of him, is truly scary.
Sen. Obama, however, is a man of the people with the utmost respect around the world and he and his team can put us back on the world stage as an admired superpower. He will stop the illegal carnage in Iraq by sensibly withdrawing our forces and he’ll support us all on the home front with his plan to improve healthcare and education, reduce poverty, develop alternative means of renewable energy and cease the current pandering to big oil, big business and the automotive industry.
A sensible and creative change in attitude and actions by all of us – at home and abroad – is what this country needs and Sen. Obama has demonstrated the skills and intelligence to turn this nation around. Sen. McCain must be prevented at all costs from escalating the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, attacking Iran and alienating Russia further with his bellicose stance in the Caucasus.
His support of our missiles in Poland and the Czech Republic will only create further tension with an increasingly confident Putin at a time when war is not the answer. Defense of this country from further terrorist attacks is the top priority – not waging pre-emptive wars against countries that have posed no threat to us.
In addition, we have heard very little from Sen. McCain regarding our economic problems – a subject he has admitted he knows little about. Sen. McCain is not the answer to our problems.
