Princeton Public Library trustees OK budget

PRINCETON —  The Princeton Public Library Board of Trustees approved a $4,922,237 budget for the year last week that is 371,847 larger than last year’s budget.
The revenue side of the adopted budget is $5,736 larger than last year’s budget and $26,312 larger than the temporary budget the library Board of Trustees originally submitted last year. The bulk of the increase in revenue from the temporary budget was generated by a 48-percent increase in grant money — the library’s third largest source of revenue.
The adopted budget includes 5 percent less revenue than it anticipated from its largest revenue source — the Friends of the Princeton Public Library —, said library’s director Leslie Burger, during the Sept. 4 meeting.
The library’s total operating budget is $4,679,237 with the largest budget expenditure — $2,628,514 — designated for salaries and wages. Employee benefits account for the next biggest budget allocation — $800.553.
