Camilla M. Schwieger

Son a West Windsor resident

   Camilla M. Schwieger, 94, died Saturday at Meadow Lakes in Hightstown.
   Ms. Schwieger was born in Manhattan and resided in New York City until moving to Meadow Lakes in 1998. She spent her summers in New Paltz, N.Y., in an old farmhouse renovated by her parents.
   As a young woman, she worked on Governor’s Island for Bell Labs. After raising her three children in the Bronx, she pursued her own education, graduating from Hunter College, where she has endowed a scholarship, and received her master’s degree in American studies from New York University.
   She was involved with the Girl Scouts of America, on a local and regional level, and also served as a lecturer for the League of Women Voters in New York City. She was a supporter of the arts, was an avid watercolorist and bloomed as a poet after her move to Meadow Lakes.
   Her husband of 50 years, John Henry Schwieger, who died in 1988, served as vice president of the New York Stock Exchange, administrative partner of Paine Webber, a governor of the American Stock Exchange, and a director of the New York YMCA.
   Ms. Schwieger is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Camilla and Dr. Richard Humphreys of Northampton, Mass.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan and Lilly Schwieger of Garden City, N.Y., and Gerret and Kathleen Schwieger of West Windsor; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
   A memorial service will be held in New Paltz, N.Y., later this fall.
   In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to The Hightstown Presbyterian Church-Meadow Lakes Ministry.
