CLEARWATER, Fla. — Bridie T. Buckley, formerly Bridie T. Gallagher, died Wednesday at Largo Medical Center. She was 88.
Born in County Cavan, Ireland, she moved to the United States in 1942.
The daughter of the late George Smyth and Ann Daly, She was predeceased by her husband Edward T. Gallagher, to whom she was married from 1946 until his death in 1988, and her husband Thomas Buckley, to whom she was married from 1991 to his death in 2006.
She is survived by six children, Patricia A. Takacs of Clearwater, Mary Lou Groll of Charlotte, N.C., Virginia Connolly of Long Beach Island, N.J., Philip B. Gallagher of Dacula, Ga., Edward J. Gallagher of Dunedin, Fla. and Thomas P. Gallagher of Belle Mead, N.J.. She is also survived by her sister, Francis McCrossan of Philadelphia, and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.The grandchildren are Courtney Haddad, Brendan Takacs, Thomas Groll Jr., Caitrin Groll, John Connolly, Lauren Connolly, Ryan Connolly, Thomas Patrick Gallagher Jr., Kevin Edward Gallagher, Brendan Nicholas Gallagher, Kelsey Elizabeth Gallagher and Hannah Bridie Gallagher. The great-grandchildren are Royce Haddad 3rd and Cole Haddad.
Funeral services will be held at Curlew Hills Funeral Home in Palm Harbor, Fla. Visitation hours will be today, Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
A Mass will follow at noon on Saturday at Espiritu Santo Roman Catholic Church, 2405 Philippe Parkway, Safety Harbor, Fla. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Pinellas Park, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities, 1213 16th St. North, St. Petersburg, FL 33705.
