Several tractor-trailers in the parking lot of a warehouse on Stults Road caught fire Sunday, said township officials.
At approximately 1 p.m., the Monmouth Junction Fire Department responded to a report of a tractor-trailer fire in the lot of 60 Stults Road.
Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered two tractors engulfed in flames. The tractors were located in a row of more than a dozen tractors, with the fire quickly spreading, according to Scott Smith, assistant chief of the Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire, limiting the damage to four tractors, which were destroyed.
Due to a diesel fuel and oil leak, the Middlesex County Hazardous Materials Unit was dispatched as well. The fire is under investigation by Deputy Fire Marshal Nicholas Uveges of the South Brunswick Township Fire Safety Bureau.
The Jamesburg Fire Department and the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad also responded.
