Allonia Thompson of Lambertville
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the extraordinary support you’ve given me for each of my numerous charitable endeavors over the past 53 years.
The most rewarding and important of the efforts I’ve undertaken has been the local food pantry in Lambertville since its humble beginnings, cooking meals with B.J. Petty and Father Townley at St. Andrews or the Baptist church to feed the needy families of the city.
The food pantry, now located at St. John’s parish, has developed into big business and is now administered by the Delaware Valley Council of Churches.
I was recently offered a plaque for my dedication and length of service to the organization, which I have yet to accept.
Many of you may be wondering why I have not been at the pantry. Several months ago, I was asked not to continue with my volunteer work with the organization. I have decided to abide by their wishes and not return to help people receive the basic needs of life, which always filled my soul with the greatest warmth and joy.
My heart has almost healed from their surprise request, and I am again considering accepting their commendation. After all, it is being given by the wonderful people of the Council of Churches and not individuals from the food pantry.
God bless you always!
