PENNINGTON — Clearly, it appears impossible to overpraise Kristen Lawlor’s academic record.
A member of Hopewell Valley Central High School’s Class of 2009, her grade point average is 97.
”She accomplished this while taking an extremely rigorous and challenging academic schedule,” said high school Principal Michael Daher.
During her junior year, Kristen took all honors and advanced placement courses.
This year, it’s more of the same. She’s taking honors calculus, honors chemistry, honors government and advanced placement English.
Kristen is this year’s student representative to the Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education. Introducing her to the board Monday night, Mr. Daher described her as a “very bright, talented, pleasant and brave” young woman.
Why brave?
In January, Kristen raised money for Special Olympics by participating in the Polar Bear Plunge. To do that, she took a swim in the Atlantic while the air temperature was 23 degrees.
Kristen’s other extracurricular activities include the high school’s Student Council, Model Who Club and the Boys and Girls Club of Trenton. She also participated in the Race for a Cure fundraiser.
”Kristen’s infectious smile and pleasant demeanor have helped her gain the respect both of our high school staff and the students of Central High School,” Mr. Daher said.
