Free reusable grocery bags from Mercer County

Staff Report
Paper or plastic? Next time you’re asked this question while grocery shopping, give the environmentally friendly answer: "Neither!"
Beginning Saturday, Sept. 20, Mercer County’s Keep Mercer Beautiful program is making an eco-friendly offer to Mercer County residents. People who bring 25 standard, plastic grocery bags to the GRoWW (Greening of West Windsor) Environmental Fair at the Princeton Junction Train Station in West Windsor will receive one reusable Keep Mercer Beautiful tote bag for free.
The GRoWW Environmental Fair will take place 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the West Windsor Community Farmer’s Market, found in the Vaughn Road Parking lot at the Princeton Junction Train Station.
The offer is limited to Mercer County residents only, and tote bags are limited to two per resident. Only 1,000 tote bags are available on a first come, first served basis, so residents are encouraged to act fast. The plastic grocery bags that are collected will be recycled by the Mercer County Improvement Authority.
Bags will continue to be available at Mercer County Connection, located at Route 33 and Paxson Avenue inside the Acme shopping center in Hamilton Township. For more information, please call Mercer County Connection at (609) 890-9800. Visit Mercer County on the Web at www.mercercounty.org.
