A bicyclist suffered cuts and scrapes when he was struck by a U.S. Postal Service delivery truck in front of the Ben Franklin Elementary School Wednesday morning, according to police Sgt. Brian Caloiaro.
Alex McKay, 19, of Lewisville Road, was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk in front of the school on Princeton Pike when the accident occurred at 11:43 a.m., Sgt. Caloiaro said.
The mail truck, whose driver’s name was not available, paused as it left the southern exit of the school. Mr. McKay thought the driver saw him and proceeded to cross the driveway, but the driver did not see him, Sgt. Caloiaro said.
Mr. McKay suffered minor lacerations and cuts, and he was taken to Capital Health Systems at Fuld Hospital to be checked out, Sgt. Caloiaro said.
No charges have been filed because the accident is still under investigation by Patrolman Adam Kowalczyk.
