Truszkowski races for school record

CROSS COUNTRY

Marcin Truszkowski claimed a Cardinal record for his finish at Mercer County Park in the Lawrence High School Boys Cross Country team’s first Colonial Valley Conference meet of the season.
Truszkowski completed the 3.1 mile course in 17 minutes flat to lead Lawrence past Allentown, 27-29.
Truszkowski placed sixth overall in the race, which featured last season’s CVC leading teams Hopewell Valley and West Windsor-Plainsboro South. The Bulldogs and Pirated defeated the Cardinals.
The win over the Redbirds was a good sign for Lawrence, which lost to Allentown last season by a narrow margin.
Rafal Truszkowski raced to the finish in 17:35 for a personal best time by over a minute at the Mercer County Park course.
Lawrence coach Tim Collins said strong runs by Scott Figatner, Justin Wisniewski and Solomon Park helped his team surpass Allentown. Collins added that Lawrence scored better in the losses to WW-P South and Hopewell than the Cardinals have in years past.
The Lawrence girls lost to all three teams, despite a solid run by Cardinal captain Natalie Falk.
Lawrence is scheduled to compete on Saturday at the Cherokee Invitational and then races in a CVC meet at Veterans Park on Tuesday.
