Lambertville Andres Lopez, 34, of Lambertville is being charged with theft after allegedly trying to steal a bicycle Aug. 18.
Police went to the South Union Street area about midnight after receiving a report a man was trying to steal a bicycle. Police said they saw Mr. Lopez trying to take the bicycle.
Police said Mr. Lopez tried to punch an officer in the face.
He also was charged with resisting arrest and aggravated assault on an officer.
He was taken to the Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified based on Mr. Lopez’ immigration status.
A 17-year-old Stockton resident reported that two cases of CDs were stolen from his vehicle Sept. 13.
The juvenile said he left his vehicle in the CVS parking lot at about 6 p.m. When he returned at 10 p.m., he discovered that the CDs, about 100 of them, were missing.
He said all four doors were unlocked.
The CDs were found later, hidden under some nearby bushes, police said.
New Hope
Katherine Ann Marasco, 29, of Bridgewater, N.J., was charged with drunken driving Aug. 16 at 1:20 a.m. after she was observed operating her vehicle in an unlawful manner on South Main Street.
Sept. 17 at 10:10 a.m., the owner of a West Bridge Street business reported that, sometime overnight, someone went into the business and an adjacent shed and removed cash and a power drill.
Police are investigating two commercial burglaries that occurred some time Sunday night, one on South Main Street and one on North Main Street.
In one, computers and cash were taken. In the other, cash was taken.
West Amwell
Sept. 15 at 2:25 p.m., Classic Auto Sales owner Christopher Yodlow reported that sometime between Sept. 13 and Sept. 15, someone smashed the rear window of a Chevrolet Blazer at the Route 179 business and took two LCD televisions, worth a total of about $500.
Anyone with information is asked to call Patrolman John Ennis at 397-1100.
Sept. 16 at 10:10 a.m., police went to the Educational Services Commission School on Route 179 on a report of a student with a pellet gun.
The pellet gun was found on a 13-year-old students by ESC staff. The student was charged with weapons violations and turned over to school officials.
Saturday at 2:36 a.m., police received a call from Lambertville police about an erratic driver going east on Route 518.
Near the intersection of Route 518, the driver lost control and hit a curb and lawn. The right front tire was flat, but the driver left the scene of the crash, police said.
The driver pulled on Old 518 West and was changing the tire when police arrived. He fled into the woods.
Police from West Amwell and Lambertville as well as a fire chief, who came with the department’s thermo-imaging camera, searched the area for two hours, but were unable to find the driver.
The passenger and owner of the vehicle, Joshua Kocses, 34, of Belle Mead, identified the driver as Andrew R. Corcoran, 35, of Rockville, Md.
Mr. Corcoran later turned himself into police. He was charged with obstructing justice, hindering apprehension and several motor vehicle offenses.
Neither man was hurt in the crash.
Charges are pending from Lambertville.
