ALLENTOWN Helen VanOrkey Smith, 88, died Sept. 10.
Born in Trenton, she lived in the Allentown area most of her life.
She was a lifetime member of the Allentown Union AME Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for several years and was the Sunday School superintendent for more than 25 years. She was a member of the church stewardess board and a member of the Christina Smith Missionary Society.
She was a past member of the Washington Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a past member of the Washington Township and Millstone Township Senior Citizens.
Wife of the late Clarence Smith, she is survived by sister-in-law Marian Smith of East Windsor and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. today at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. Interment will follow in Allentown Methodist Cemetery.
Friends may call today from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
